For every project, my first task is to get into the mindset
of the reader. This can mean quite a few questions at the early stages of a
project because I will need to understand what your audience is likely to be
looking for.
Once I have a feeling for the reader’s perspective, I will
quickly familiarise myself with your products and services, taking note of the
benefits they offer.
From there, I will start to craft your copy, paying close
attention to sentence structure and flow and making sure that keywords are used
with great subtlety. Quite often, I will come up with various ways of approaching
your audience, and depending on the size of the project, I may write several
different versions so that you can choose the angle you prefer.
When I have completed the first draft, I’ll send it back to
you for review. At this stage, you need to study the copy and identify any
areas that you are not happy with. Usually, I will provide a brief explanation
of why the copy is structured in a certain way, to help you understand my
approach (which will provide some insight into the thinking of your customers).
Upon receiving your reply, I will take your comments into
consideration and adjust the copy as needed. There is no extra charge for this
edit – it is all included in the quoted price. I’ll then send you the completed
second draft for approval.
I’ve never had a client who still had concerns after the
second draft, but you can rest assured that if you’re still unsure about the
copy, I’ll do my best to resolve your issues. However, there will be additional
charges for further edits if the project brief has changed.
Approachable, Reliable, and Thick Skinned!
Like all my other clients, I’m sure you will find that I am
enthusiastic, committed, friendly and easy to work with. I’ll always do my very
best to accommodate your requirements, even if they come at the last minute. My
reputation is important to me and I am a firm believer in what goes around
comes around, so you can be sure of a good service.
While I take great pride in my work, I’m not precious about
it. Having worked with some very unsociable engineers over the years, I’ve
developed a thick skin and I welcome your opinion. I want you to be satisfied
with the end product, so there’s no need to pussy foot around with me – feel
free to voice your opinion.
Deadlines
I am a stickler for delivering on time. I don’t like people
being late – it shows a lack of respect. So when it comes to deadlines, you can
rely on me to meet them. I’ve never missed a deadline yet, and I don’t intend
to start.
If we have agreed a time, I will do whatever it takes to
meet that deadline. And in the unlikely event that it is impossible, you can be
sure I will give plenty of notice.
Working Location
Being based in Coventry,
I can work on-site locally. However, I prefer not to for one simple reason –
travelling is a waste of time. If I’m stuck behind the wheel, I’m concentrating
on the road and not thinking about the best way to write your copy. If a
project can be completed entirely online, then why waste anybody’s time?
