Since forming StrayGoat Copywriting in 2004, I have been providing businesses with high quality copy that is eye-catching, concise, clear and compelling. Using my skills as a copywriter, I am able to persuade readers to buy without having to resort to hard sell techniques. As a full member of the Institute of Copywriters, I am trained to write for most types of marketing, but my main areas of copywriting expertise are:
When writing promotional copy, I use an informal, chatty style and go for a subtle approach. I don't like the hard sell style of writing used by some US copywriters, which is similar to what we see in Readers' Digest letters...you know the sort - ‘You've been selected to win £50,000'. I think that approach insults the intelligence of readers and doesn't encourage them to buy at all - it makes them distrust you. My copywriting is all about creating a positive emotional response. No matter what you are trying to sell, I will promote it in a way that captures the reader's attention, highlights the benefits, and makes the reader feel inspired to act - either to make a purchase or to contact you for more information. I use Plain English wherever possible, avoiding jargon and the dreaded 'business speak' unless there's no way around it. In my experience, direct communication is the best communication - if you use too many complex sentences or uncommon words, you can really alienate potential customers. So if you're looking for web content, articles, copy for brochures, direct mail sales letters, or something altogether more innovative and unusual, please get in touch - email me now and I will get back to you as soon as possible. And remember, I also work as a technical author and so can provide professional technical copy too. |
