Good Karma or Just a Bit of Luck? |

It has been a few weeks since I fell for that sob story in the car park. Yes, okay, I know it was a scam and I should be going red, you don't have to keep on about it. I kinda knew it was a con at the time too...can't explain why I decided to try and help. Anyway, that's besides the point. All I do know is that since that random act of foolish kindness, I've been snowed under with work. So who knows, maybe it is true that you give a little, you get a lot back in return in some higgedly-piggedly cosmic karma sort of thing. I'm certainly not complaining, that's for sure.
Since that fateful day, I've worked on web sites for bridal tiaras, Italian coffee machines, a hynotherapy weight loss programmes, and a brochure for a remarkable web design product called CMS Blocks. I've also got some newsletters, direct emails and a whole host of projects for one company in the pipeline. Things have really taken off!
And the kind Ukrainians at Kavoon have begun work on a logo for me, which is coming on a treat.
Things are looking up.

Well, what a strange week. On Tuesday, I had a bizarre accident in a toilet (of all places)...I got up too quickly and cracked my head on the toilet roll dispenser. I now boast a 3cm long scratch right down the middle of my forehead so I look like a 6ft penis!
Things got even stranger, when against all my better judgement, I gave someone some money in a carpark. It was blatantly a scam, but something inside me made me want to trust the poor, soaking wretch and restore my faith in humanity. Needless to say, she didn't. But I did my bit - I tried to help.
Just hours later, I was contacted by Marina of Ukrainian web design company, Kavoon . She kindly asked me to check their translated English to see if it was correct. Deciding to continue with my good karma philosophy, I agreed to help, free of charge. I checked the copy, rewrote some parts, and tried to add value by giving it that special copywriter treatment. The very next day, Marina replied thanking me for the work and asking if there was anything Kavoon could do in return. So now we are working for each other's mutual benefit - they are producing a logo, graphics, and web design for me and I am going to check the translations on their news items and blog items.
So give and ye shall receive.
I reckon I'm still owed something for helping that con-artist in town...best check those Lottery results!

As
an Aston Villa fan, I frequently comment on the Aston Villa message
boards. With our star player and captain, Gareth Barry, set to join
Liverpool in a very unwelcome transfer, I've been really disappointed
with some of the fans' responses. Barry has been a good player for us -
inspirational at times - and at 27 and now and England regular, he
wants to leave to play for Liverpool. This is nothing to do with being
a Liverpool fan or anything like that...he simply wants to play in the
Champions League while he is at the peak of his career. And I don't
blame him.

"When we chose to outsource our proofreading, we decided to use
Freelance Office Services and Virtual Assistance. We produce a magazine
which must adhere strictly to our deadlines. The copy was sent in our
format, not the usual double spacing as many proofreaders like, and we
were extremely pleased that the copy was read and checked within our 3
day turnaround. Highly recommended" -
